Become a reviewer

Editors are always keen to hear from researchers ready to take the next step in their publishing career. If you think reviewing might be the right move for you, here are a few tips:

• If you have a ScholarOne account, complete the "area of expertise" section so that it accurately reflects your field of knowledge. Editors frequently source potential reviewers by searching on these keywords so might approach you with a review request, even if you only have an author account.
• Look for an Emerald journal with an aims and scope closely aligned to your area of expertise. This will ensure the review requests you receive are relevant.
• Found a journal that feels like the right fit? Contact the editor directly, explaining that you would like to review for the journal and include a resume outlining your experience.
• Ask a senior colleague to mentor you as you find a journal and carry out your first review. They should be able to offer you practical help and advice as well as support, when needed.
